We have 3 residences
on the property that we trade rent for help with chores. There are
2 mobile homes and one small house. The chores involve morning
cleaning and feeding, pasture turnouts, evening feeding, watering and
some mowing in the summer. The people working arrange their own
schedule and also arrange to stand in for each other when someone has to
be gone. We expect about10-12 hours per week for the mobile homes
and 18-20 for the house, however actual time required is usually
somewhat less and since there is no time clock and we all just work as
required to get the job done.

The
mobile home with an address of 6239 State Road 43 North is a 12x60
two bedroom. It was rebuilt with new vinyl windows in 1992 and
had a new furnace and refrigerator in 1998. Water, electricity,
TV cable and sewage are furnished. Renter pays
phone and gas. High speed internet broadband, HDTV or expanded
premium channel access is available on the cable. One window air conditioner furnished
for the bedroom.

mobile home with an address of 6241 State Road 43 North is a 12x60
two bedroom unit. It also was rebuilt with new vinyl windows
and floors in 1993. Water, electricity, TV cable and sewage are furnished. Renter pays
phone and gas. High speed internet broadband, HDTV or expanded
premium channel access is available on the cable. Has washer & Dryer hookup if gas dryer used.
One window air conditioner furnished for the bedroom.

The
house with an address of 6243 State Road 43 North is a 900 sq ft, 2
bedroom all electric home built new in 1995. Water, TV cable and sewage furnished. Renter pays electric, phone.
High speed internet broadband, HDTV or expanded premium channel
access is available on the cable. House has one air conditioner that
will cool the whole house.

The Work
-
Morning cleaning starts
at 5:30am and takes two people about 45 minutes. We clean into
buckets and stack on a flat bed cart that is pulled down the
aisle. When done, the buckets are dumped into a manure
spreader. Sawdust is added to any stalls that need it with a
Bobcat and the spreader emptied.

Morning feeding takes
one person about 20 minutes. The hay and grain are moved on separate
wheeled carts. Grain is loaded from a bulk tank and hay from a
stack in the storage room.

Morning turnouts
involves bring in any horses that were out for the night and putting
two pairs of horses out in the pastures. This takes about 20
minutes for one person.

Switching pairs of
horses continues every few hours all day with the last group staying
out for the night, weather permitting.

Watering requires
keeping the buckets filled and hay scooped out. Once a week
they are cleaned and disinfected. The cleaning of the buckets
takes about an hour, mostly waiting for the water to fill.
Watering during the week is highly variable depending on how hot it
is and how much the horses drink. We use 30 gallon plastic
garbage cans for water so it is never required to fill more than
once a day and in cool weather, some may only need it ever three
days.

In the summer, the
occupants of the house help with mowing. The yard area that is
mowed takes about 90 minutes a time. Also the pastures are
clipped twice a year in June and August which takes a total of about
7 hours each time.
If you think that you might
be interested in this arrangement, please contact us to see when there
is an opening. We are looking for people that will stay at least
one year. We prefer married student couples but will consider
singles. Experience is helpful but not necessary. No
Children. One dog allowed provided it is over three years old,
under thirty pounds and neutered.
